Recently Completed Projects
Foxtail Park
May 8, 2008
Foxtail Park, located off Heather Lane between Cypress and Hartnell Avenues, received new play equipment, furnishings, landscaping and mural art this past spring. A Community Development Block Grant was awarded to complete this project for the benefit of this older, established Enterprise neighborhood. Concrete play structures were removed and a new Playworld play structure, designed by Playworld for 5-12 year olds, was installed in February. Funds also covered the addition of a new concrete table, bench, waste container and park sign as well as new landscaping and ground cover. Neighborhood children
participated on May 8, 2008 with painting images often found in parks such as kites, balloons, butterflies and jumping dogs.
The Youth Action Council continues to adopt the park, hosting period clean-ups with the neighbors. A new drinking fountain is slated to be installed in the fall/winter to complete the renovations of Foxtail Park.

Alta Mesa Park Community Build Day
March 29, 2008
Over 375 volunteers, including 91 children and teens, participated in this exciting community project at Alta Mesa Park in the Enterprise Area of Redding.
Volunteers successfully constructed an expansive red, blue, and graystone play structure complete with three slides, climbing walls, tunnels, and ladders, and other exciting features. In addition, two sets of swings and a tire swing, an 8' by 16' mural dedicated to Cesar E. Chavez, planter benches, a community bulletin board, decorated stepping stones, and numerous improvements to the Alta Mesa School Community Garden were constructed. Children’s activities such as creating the volunteer appreciation banner spanned the day while music and a raffle helped motivate the volunteers. Generous food donations allowed us to serve both breakfast and lunch to a hungry crew. It was truly an amazing day for the community!
The City of Redding and the Active 20/30 Club were able to bring this community build to Redding thanks to KaBOOM! and the funding support from CaliforniaVolunteers. The community more than exemplified the ten core values of Cesar E. Chavez for whom this build celebrates and did so on a single Saturday.
