Community Services Advisory Commission

The Community Services Advisory Commission is a five-member board appointed by City Council to provide oversight of the Recreation and Park Development Divisions administrated by the Community Services Department, and the Park Maintenance, Convention Center and Visitors Bureau Divisions administered by the Support Services Department.

About the Commission

The Commission was established to make recommendations to the City Council, the Community Services Department and/or the Support Services Department (as appropriate) regarding the establishment of policies which encourage and maintain a systemized program of special interest activities available to residents and visitors of the City, and to consider issues pertaining to parks, recreation, and tourism.

To make recommendations to the City Council, the Department of Community Services and/or the Department of Support Services regarding:

To review proposed capital expenditures regarding parks, open space, recreational programs and facilities and advise the City Council and the Department of Community Services as to how the proposed capital expenditures relate to the objectives and policies of the City regarding parks and recreation.

To review and make recommendations to the City Council and the Department of Support Services regarding the pricing guidelines of the convention center.

Commissioners are appointed by the City Council to four-year terms, and are limited to serving two consecutive full terms. Commissioners must be residents of the City, employed within the City, or own a business located within the City.
