Exhibiting Artists:

Yvonne Jordan-Sherwood - Redding City Hall

Yvonne Jordan-Sherwood has no photography training and says she just 'points and snaps' her photos. Redding's local Sacramento River Trail provides amazing natural beauty and most of her photos are of the trail where Redding's residents bike, walk or jog every day. Yvonne uses no special lenses and her photos are printed as taken. In fact, some of the best photos are taken with a cell phone! Can you tell which ones?

Gwen Knaebel - Redding City Hall

Gwen Knaebel finds her new adventure into cell phone drawing and photography to be - fun, fun, fun! The photographs in this exhibit were taken, and the enhancements to them made on her 8MP Droid X Smartphone. Cropping and a few other refinements were done by computer. Gwen creates dynamic images and uses vibrant colors to bring energy and freshness to her art. She especially enjoys creating art with cameras and computers and finds her Smartphone to be an exciting addition to her tech art tool kit!

Robert Seals - Redding City Hall

Robert Seals is a Redding native and a Shasta College graduate. He attended Chico State University for two and a half years, where he took an influential art class. Robert says he is always happiest when being creative, and that includes capturing images with his camera. Robert's creative pursuits include an acting career, screenplay writing, and building artistic things with his hands. He enjoys the adventure of finding great places to capture images, including a trip to Japan. He enjoys sharing his images.

Sandi Howell - Redding City Hall

Sandi Howell's photography exhibit features a variety of photography that 'captures a moment in time'...where emotion, light, composition and color come together to create a memorable image. Sandi expresses, 'Through looking at a photograph, I can relive 'moments' that would otherwise be lost forever.' The memory of my senses and emotions that were originally part of that 'moment' when I took the photograph can be ignited and my heart and mind can be stirred again.'

The Artist's Gathering - Redding City Hall and the Redding Library

The Artist's Gathering was developed by Roberta Stone, a local artist, in January 2009. Roberta wanted to bring into existence an artistic group in an effort to support, encourage and create new artistic relationships. The Artist's Gathering is comprised of a large spectrum of talented and award winning artists from Shasta, Tehama, and Trinity Counties. This creative palette of artists embodies a large array of mediums: painting, drawing, sculpting, textiles, music, photography and creative writing. They are a wonderful group of successful and fun filled artists with a mission to encourage, share, and develop the future art in our area. 'Creativity takes Courage' Henri Matisse
