Kokondo Karate
Adults & Teens
Kokondo Karate is not a sport. We are not here to hand out belts or win huge trophies. For the dedicated student Kokondo provides a proven path to self-awareness and self-confidence, physical conditioning and agility founded on traditional Japanese self-defense techniques and life guiding philosophies. We focus on kata (forms), self-defense applications, and a variety of traditional Japanese and Okinawan weapons. Jody Carter, Sandan (third degree black belt through the IKA and a certified instructor in the art), has close to 30 years experience practicing and teaching the martial arts and works diligently to help students of any age/ability to achieve personal success in their studies.

Kajukenbo-Self Defense
Ages 6-adult
In 1949 "Kajukenbo" was founded in the USA with the focus on self defense techniques. A unique style of discipline, "Kajukenbo" utilizes techniques from five systems, Karate (ka), Judo & Jujitsu (ju), Kempo (ken) and Chinese boxing (bo). Five different martial artists contributed to this street related system. Five basic self defense forms were developed called standings, covers, rolls, clubs and grab techniques. For example, one standing technique combines a karate kick; jujitsu break and judo take down. Beginning to advanced students welcome. Martial arts help with discipline and improve confidence, concentration and physical skills. This is for the family; parents are encouraged to join their children in the 6-15 age groups, learning and training together (Students 4-5 years of age may be admitted to the course, instructor and parents will evaluate participation).
